Remember back when I was talking about making things, but I couldn't show you my supplies even, because I had to keep it a secret from my children? Well, here they are:
These cute little bundles are colored pencil rolls.
And they unroll to reveal this.
My children wasted no time putting these to use.
There are many tutorials on the internet for making these, if you want to follow suit. I wasn't sure how many I would be able to sew before Christmas (or before I lost interest) but I ended up making 17! Each of our older eleven children got one in their stockings, and now I have a few extra on hand. I didn't intend to make on for the youngest three children, but then I found some space material, that just screamed Hezekiah...And once I was finished with his, I still couldn't stop myself, so I ended up making crayon rolls for Avi and Tucker, too. My sewing machine and I have made peace. In fact, we're now almost friends. I have more completed sewing projects I will show you on another day. The hardest part about these pencils rolls was the fact that they were a surprise. So I had to work on them in my bedroom, while hiding from my children. No easy task.
And what would Christmas day be, without at least one casualty? This photo does not do justice to the swelling and purple under Tucker's eye. He fell face first into a small table in the living room, and now looks like he was in a barroom brawl. I haven't seen him yet this morning, but it looked pretty nasty last night.
