Tucker loves to color...not necessarily an unusual trait for a three year old. But check this out.
This is how he colors. Notice how carefully he is holding the paper with his right hand as he colors in the lines with his left? Keep in mind, he is exactly three years and two months old. Avi is still at the point developmentally (at three years five months) where she colors (scribbles) over top of the entire picture...with no regard for where the lines in the picture actually are. She just covers the entire page with crayon. Every time I see Tucker working and coloring so carefully, I am amazed. When discussing it with a friend, she pointed out he his left handed...by conventional wisdom that means his brain is artistic. Who knows, but it sure is fun to watch.
As for sewing, no I don't have a serger (yet). The pattern for the pants is here, and for the skirt, it is simply the material hemmed and sew up the sides with elastic around the waste. Took about 20 minutes! I have never attempted clothes for myself, and the oldest child I have sewn for was Tilly (10). I made her a tiered skirt which turned out lovely, but took some real effort to get all of the gathers right.
