My Sock is Finished!

My sock is officially finished. I was going to blog yesterday but I forgot.

My sock <3 It actually fits too!

This was when I'd first started it. This is I think 56 stitches, but then I ripped it out. 

This is the pattern for my sock. 

Cast one 50 stitches on size 3 needles using sock yarn. Divide evenly on three needles. Rib 16 rows (or however many you want) purl one row (because I like the way it looks better) then knit 3 inches. put 22 stitches on a holder needle (or whatever it's called) put the other 28 on a needle together. Knit 27, turn, purl 26, turn, knit 25, turn, keep doing this until you have 10 stitches between turning, ending on a right side row. Knit 10, pick up one stitch, knit into it, knit one stitch, turn. Purl 2 together, purl 10 (i think that's the right number. I wasn't writing it down as I went.) , pick up one stitch, purl into it, purl one, turn. continue until all the stitches are worked. divide all your stitches evenly on 3 needles again. Knit approximately 6 inches. you have to finish your sock however, because i did mine weird, and you probably don't want to do it the same way. 

 

Then make another one.

I'm making another one. It's not the same yarn though. It's striped, green and brown. I'm almost to the beginning of the heel. It's acrylic and nylon. It's SUPER soft! The stuff I made my finished sock out of was a cashmere/acrylic/something else I forget blend, and it was so soft, but the green and brown stuff is even softer. I got it at Apple Yarns.

I did not do anything to this picture. I just cropped it. my camera makes the colors look a little different sometimes, but it was a perfect blue sky! Yes, it's January. Yes, it's winter. But it doesn't seem like it!

I don't know why there are lines all over this picture.

If you're looking for a good book to read, you should read The City Of Ember. There are 4 books in the series. The second is The People of Sparks, then there's the Diamond Of Darkhold, and The Prophet of Yonwood. The last one is not about Doon and Lina like the rest. I don't like it as much. But the City Of Ember is one of the BEST books ever! And if you read those you should watch the movie too, because it's really awesome and follows the book really well. One thing I like is that it's about the first book, and it's not all the books combined. It's really good. 

Duck Tape :) {and the cutest baby ever}

So, I went to the store again a while ago and bought more duck tape- obviously ;) 

Whenever I finally have an even number of rolls of duck tape please check to see if it's really me.

Now I have 37. 

Now, please don't say that's not 37 rolls...I know it's not. it's 24. Those are only the ones that I haven't used all up already. 

Used up ones. the purple, right beside the black, always looks weird, because my camera makes the colors look different a lot.

I just read a really good book by Margaret Peterson Haddix. It's called Found. If you click over to the link you can read the book description. The next books in the series are Sent, Sabotaged, and Torn. I haven't read Torn yet but I'm getting it from the library. The first book, Found, is about Jonah, his sister Katherine, and his friend Chip. Jonah and Chip are both adopted, and they both get these weird letters. They find a list with a bunch of names and phone numbers and adresses. They call the people and find out that they're all the same age too and all got the same letters. It's a really good book and I'm not very good at describing it, but you should read it. 

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! Every year we have grandma Cindy and grandpa Earl over for thanksgiving, but this year grandma got sick so they couldn't come. Mom's friend came over, though. There were 14 people here, and we had seven pies! Since we're not allowed to eat unlimited pieces of pie, there were plenty of leftovers. This year, and last year too, we had our big Thanksgiving dinner for lunch. Then we had leftovers for dinner. My favorite food on Thanksgiving is cranberries! 
Our seven pies were: 2 pumpkin pies from grandma, 1 pecan pie from grandma, 2 apple pies Judah made, and 2 blueberry pies that I made.

It's an inside joke. You have to read the Hunger Games trilogy, which is: The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. And then you have to watch this  hilarious parody of a Britney Spears song. Then you'll get it.

Pictures of Cells (don't worry they're not real ;)

Our bedroom ceiling, painted with 'glow in the dark' paint. (It's actually green. someone thought it was glow in the dark. she wants to get rid of it but I like it :)

This is a picture that my great grandpa painted. 

'Cells'. They looked better before we dumped them out, they weren't firm enough and collapsed. It's just jello, and then we put candy in it. For example, the jelly beans were mitochondran and the fruit leather was Endoplasmic Reticulum. 

They were fun to make and fun to eat.

Even if they did look sort of gross. They tasted good.

Book I'm reading:

Thunder Cave, by Roland Smith. It's a really good book so far. It's about a boy, Jake, whos parents are divorced and his mom is remarried. His dad lives in Kenya. His mom gets hit by a car and dies, and he has to go to Nevada to live with his mean relatives. But instead he flies to Kenya to find his dad, all alone, without anyone except his grandpa knowing he's going. 

We Went For A Walk

At Lake Padden yesterday. We walked around the lake, which took us an hour. It was a lot of fun. I like hiking. It's a lot better than sitting around reading (although I do LOVE reading). I took my point and shoot, and Adalia is in some pictures because I made her model for me.

Duck. I was actually chasing some ducks, when we got back to the playground area :D Hey, it was fun. They flew off though. Into the water.

And by the same person, and about the Pennykettles as well, which I have not read are: The Dragons Of Wayward Crescent- Gauge, Gruffen , Grabber, and Glade. I think they're younger reader books. Our library doesn't have them, which is why I haven't read them.

Next time I'll blog, I'll tell you some more books I like.

Ugly neon grass, but I didn't do anything to it! Do you like the rainbows on the top? Didn't even notice them until just now!

A book I recently read and liked:

Keeping Corner by Kashmira Sheth

Leela is almost 13, and lives in India. She was engaged at 2 and married at 9. Before she moves in with her husband, though, he dies and she becomes a widow. Widows have to shave their heads, can't wear saris or jewelry, and have to keep corner, or stay in their house, for a year after they're widowed. 

It's a really interesting book.

 

Vespers Rising!!!

Best book ever. Gotta read. But read all the others first. And make sure to read book one first, because I read book 2 first and got really confused!

And I just realized I was wrong about being wrong about the new series. Sort of. Just noticed The Medusa Plot!!! Okay, sweet! Wait till the others hear...! That rocks. But I have to wait till August 30th??? Aw!

There's also a The 39 Clues board game, that we have. It's really good but better if you read the books. You'll get all confused and lose if you haven't.

My Big Baby Brother!

Sorry I haven't blogged in a long time but we were really busy... 

Guess what Apollo can do now? He can talk! Well, he doesn't say words, but he likes to yell 'Ah!' and say 'buh' and 'mamamamamamama'. And he actually stood up on his own! He was holding onto a highchair and then he let go and was just standing there for, like, 5 seconds! Then he fell on his bum. 

Here is a picture of my adorable, cute, handsome, awesome, cool, sweet, snuggly (when he feels like it), yelling, messy baby brother!

And do you want to know what we've been so busy doing? Well, school mostly :( But recently I've started knitting again! I was going to knit this pouch from a knitting book but it looked WAY too complicated, so I just made up my own pattern.

I made the one in the first picture first. Then I made the turquoise one with pink and blue stripes, then the brown one with blue stripes, then the green with brown stripes, and then the dark green with the heart...that was the hardest but best one. 

And right now I'm knitting a bright green neck warmer. Will post pics later!

We've been reading a lot too. Some of my favorite books are The Underland Chronicles, by Suzanne Collins (author of The Hunger Games Series- another favorite!). The first is Gregor The Overlander, then there're Gregor and The Prophecy Of Bane, Gregor and The Curse Of The Warmbloods, Gregor and The Marks Of Secret, and Gregor and the Code Of Claw...the best one! Like I said, we like The Hunger Games series as well, and we LOVE The 39 Clues books...Enoch and I both collect them- he has books 1,3,7, and 10, and the Agent Handbook and The Black Book Of Buried Secrets. We both collect the cards that come with the books, and from card packs. I have books 1,2,3,5,6,8,9,10, and the Agent handbook, and I'm getting book 5 and soon I'll get book 4. I have over 90 cards! (there are 6 in each book and 16 in each card pack) 

But other than that, just school. And Scouts. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. And on the 11, 12, and 13th of this month Mom, Apollo, and I went to the Above Rubies Retreat down in Olympia. It was tons of fun! 

And tomorrow is the Pinewood Derby with Cubscouts! I'll probably take some pics (if I don't forget my camera).
