Two weeks ago today I photographed Ezra's entrance into the world. Check out that head of blonde hair!
I love these two photos. They remind me of the old hospital photos...
I'm apparently a boring photographer...Ezra couldn't keep his eyes open...
Check in tomorrow for photos of Ezra's family and siblings...
I got the call at about 3 AM Monday morning. Meredith told me there was no hurry and to go ahead and nurse Apollo...so I did. I arrived at their house at about 4 AM.
I love all births, but home birth might just be my favorite...
Meredith was beautiful and graceful...this is her in transition. Really!
I am always honored and humbled beyond words to be invited to a birth...
Another boy! He still had no name when I left....
You may remember Derek, I did his newborn photos a few months ago. Well, his mom is best friends with Meredith. Little Derek got to be present at his little buddy's birth. What a fun story to tell whenthey are older!
Esther had the honor of waking her little brothers and telling them about the surprise...
This photos is full of imperfection from a technical standpoint, but in my opinion it's still perfect...I can hardly wait to head out and do this little guy's newborn shoot...
This family had the coolest space set up for their little man!
I don't usually talk very much about the births I photograph, but this birth was special to me. I was so excited to attend this birth because while I didn't know the mom and dad, the midwife attending was my midwife. Due to Apollo's cord prolapse, she didn't get to actually attend my birth, so I was looking forward to seeing her in action.
This was also the first birth I attended where a young child was present. I know she looks scared in the picture, but she really wasn't. This was minutes before her brother was born and there were eight people crowded into the bathroom. She was just chillin' in the corner observing the action.
I will never, ever stop being amazed at the miracle of birth...
If you need a great midwife of naturopathic doctor, call Kim Baur. She was awesome!
Father and son.
